Awards presented during Rhizosphere 4

The Rhizosphere 4 Student Poster Awards

The "Rhizosphere 4 Student Poster Award" is reserved for students and postdocs who are the first and presenting author of the submitted poster presentation (proof of (postgraduate) studentship will be required). During Rhizosphere 4, our poster committee will make a selection among the posters each day. Awardees will receive a certificate and a monetary prize of €300. Awards were presented on the last conference day of Rhizosphere 4 by chair Hans van Veen. We would like to congratulate the winners with their outstanding scientific achievement:

  • Jessica Mowle (University of Western Sydney, Australia), "Improving the recovery outcomes of the critically endangered Wollemi pine: is success determined by soil microbes?"
  • Katja Steinauer (University of Leipzig, Germany), "Root exudate cocktails: the link between plant diversity and soil microorganisms?"
  • Lin Zhang (China Agricultural University, China), "Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal hyphal exudates prime bacterium mediated phytate mineralization in hyphosphere"

 

 

The Rhizosphere 4 Travel Awards

Rhizosphere 4 has limited funds available for young scientists to assist in covering their travel expenses to attend the conference. The grant will be €750 for young scientists outside of Europe, young scientists from Europe will be awarded €150. The "Rhizosphere 4 Travel Awards" are open to all participants who are enrolled as a research higher degree student or no more than 2 years past completion of their PhD on the first day of the conference. The applicant should be the first and presenting author of an abstract submitted to the symposium. 

This year we were able to grant 26 travel awards to young and promising scientists from over 5 continents. A big congratualtions to them. We are extremely pleased to announce our winners:
